Some scuffs to leather at corners and edges, and a chip to leather towards top right corner of front board, and smaller chip at bottom of rear board. Leather on rear board is stained. Binding firm. Pressed flowers and foliage taped to front endpaper, with inscriptions. Endpapers foxed, some scattered foxing throughout contents, mainly to page margins. Engravings are generally clean and bright. A handsome volume. Weight: 4880g.

Most pages have light brown stain on lower half of page (looks like ancient dampstain). Last sentence on page 272 has been adversely affected with a couple of words illegible. Otherwise the text is bright and readable. One map is browned at corner. Majority of plates not marked. A handsome copy. Weight: 1700g.
