We recently purchased a large collection of books about Robin Hood. Who would have thought there would be so many?? We purchased over 140 titles in this little collection! The collection included factual books about the legend of Robin Hood as well as Children's story books. Many films have also been made about Robin Hood. He has been portrayed by a multitude of stars including Errol Flynn, Sean Connery, Michael Praed, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner... and many, many more! And of course there is the 1973 film by Walt Disney in which Robin Hood is portrayed as an animated anthropomorphic fox! Read more... |

Notes By A Naturalist on the “Challenger” contributed by Chris
The naturalist in question and the author of this book is H.N (Henry Nottidge) Moseley, a British scientist who took part in the voyage of HMS Challenger around the world in the years 1872-1876. His observations are the subject of this fascinating and informative book, published in 1879, and dedicated to Charles Darwin “who has personally given me much kindly encouragement in the prosecution of my studies.” The Royal Society of London obtained the use of Challenger from the Royal Navy and in 1872 modified the ship for scientific tasks, equipping her with separate laboratories for natural history and chemistry. Some foxing and browning to pages. Wrapper is browned with some edge-creasing; a couple of closed tears and chips; minimal loss. Price: £120.00 | 1809 Two volumes, green leather spine and corners, raised bands, gilt titles and decorations on spine. Newcastle, printed by Edward Walker for R.E. Bewick; sold by him and Longman and Co. London. Vol I Land Birds; Vol II Water Birds. Wood engravings by Bewick. Price: £340.00 | 40th 1932 Generally regarded as the definitive edition of this much-loved classic with Shepherd's illustrations bringing Mole, Ratty and Toad to exuberant life.
