Welcome to the February 2024 newsletter from Stella and Rose's Books. The aim of our newsletter is to keep you informed of new information, articles and books available on our website.
The first of high tides this year coincided with a lot of rain and thus the River Wye burst its banks and flooded the road outside the shop. Thankfully it came no closer than the pavement. The local authorities are very helpful and close the road while it's flooded - preventing passing cars from causing tidal waves that flood the houses and shops! This can mean the road being closed for around an hour which does test the patience of some drivers. We appreciate their patience - and at least they have a nice view to enjoy!
Meanwhile, in book news, we have almost finished stock recording all the New Naturalists we mentioned in our previous newsletter.
We also have a 'Post-January Blues' sale running with 15% off everything on our website! Be quick - the sale ends February 29th!
Our article and featured book this month cover quite a spectrum - Haynes Workshop Manuals to Alice in Wonderland! Enjoy!
I have been asked to write an article for the Stella & Rose’s Books monthly newsletter and, as it is my first one, I thought what better than to write about a particular type of book of which I have quite a few! I imagine that many readers will also have at least one in their collection or have seen them. I am referring to Haynes Workshop Manuals.

A Sample of New Stock

Alice again enters a fantastical and nonsensical world, but is this the Wonderland that she happened upon once a lazy dream ago, when she followed the White rabbit down that hole? This time it is snowing outside so she is playing inside with two kittens, a black one called Kitty and a white one called Snowdrop, so this is quite different to the sunny day when she entered Wonderland previously. But again, we see the 'dream' quality - is this a prerequisite for entering fantastical and wondrous worlds?
