Welcome to the January 2025 newsletter from Stella and Rose's Books. The aim of our newsletter is to keep you informed of new information, articles and books available on our website.
We hope this newsletter find you well - and you've enjoyed some time off with loved ones over the holiday period. After Christmas is always a quiet time here at the shop; although I'm told there is a large collection of angling books about to hit our shelves - so look out for them if fishing is your passion.

If you'd like some company whilst exploring some new routes, there are a couple of guided walks happening in the next few weeks that may interest you. There is a 'Tintern Abbey and Wye Valley Day Walk' on the 25th of Jan and the 'History of the Angidy Valley' walk on the 15th of Feb.
In our article this month, Alison looks at well known children's author Monica Edwards. She is best known for the 'Romney Marsh' and 'Punchbowl Farm' series. For our featured book this month, Lisa actually looks at a series of books - the Shell Guides written by Sir. John Betjeman. So if you're starting to plan your summer holiday, these beautiful guides might just give you some fresh ideas! Enjoy!

It was 1947 when Monica wrote her first book and the first of her ‘Romney Marsh’ series ‘Wish for a Pony’. It was marketed as a ‘pony’ book...

He wrote guidebooks not for the railway enthusiast but now for the motorist.
