September 2025 Newsletter

Welcome to the September 2025 newsletter from Stella and Rose's Books. The aim of our newsletter is to keep you informed of new information, articles and books available on our website.

The last few weeks have seen a dramatic change in the weather here in the UK. The lovely summer has given way to some wet and windy weather. However, the shop remains open 7 days a week (see our website for opening hours) and there are a number of local activities throughout September including falconry displays at the Abbey.

The Tidenham Tunnel on the Wye Vally Greenway closes on the 30th September to allow the bats to hibernate. The Greenway remains open throughout the winter - but it's a little trickier to use with the tunnel closed. So just a couple more weeks to enjoy this beautiful cycling and walking route from Chepstow through to Tintern.

We hope you enjoy this newsletter. We have just the one article this month - on the history or Beeswax. It's actually the first of a two-part series so look out for part-two next month. Enjoy!

In ancient Egypt it was used for embalming and modelling; exquisite examples of cats and eagles among other waxen figures have been recovered from graves and from the pyramids.
