January 2026 Newsletter

Welcome to the January 2026 newsletter from Stella and Rose's Books. The aim of our newsletter is to keep you informed of new information, articles and books available on our website.

We hope you all had a nice relaxing time over Xmas and new year. The weather the last few weeks has been pretty cold and wet here in the Wye Valley. We did have a brief dusting of snow - but sadly it was gone too soon! But spring will be here soon - and we're already seeing the first signs with snowdrops tentatively poking their pretty heads above the soil.

On the subject of snowdrops, the Wye Valley Sculpture Garden in Tintern are running some 'Snowdrop Open days'. 'Step into a magical winter experience at Wye Valley Sculpture Garden... wander three acres of meadow, woodland, and sculpted slopes as over 80 snowdrop varieties bloom beneath frosty skies, creating a serene, restorative atmosphere'.

We have recently updated the checkout on our website. The new system uses 'Stripe' and means we can offer more payment options such as Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link and Revolut. We hope you all like this improvement - and please let us know if you spot any bugs.

Our article this month is a featured book: Heteromorph by Wolfgang Grulke. Find out more about these fascinating creatures in Sonia's article! Enjoy!

Heteromorph: The Rarest Fossil Ammonites by Wolfgang Grulke

What is a Heteromorph??? Of course, I googled it:

Heteromorphic:differing from the normal form in size, shape, and function according to the Collins English Dictionary.
