  • Set at The Moorings school in Devonshire. Merle, as a monitress, is on the whole a great success, though she cannot always keep out of mischief; her sister Mavis, flourishing in the Devonshire air, grows up very sweet and charming; Clive, their impish young cousin, provides plenty of amusement, but nearly gets them into an awful scrape; and Bevis, their friend now the heir to a great property, remains a true comrade as before.
