  • One golden October day in 1272 a boy herding pigs in the great Sussex forest of Andreswald plants an acorn....
  • This story is the subsequent history of its growth and life through six hundred years of British history to the times when the giant oak becomes a shattered ruin held together by iron bands. Human events form a moving background to this original book, with all its wealth of natural history, beautifully told through the eyes of the naturalist.
