Almost very good condition in a good dustwrapper. A quite enchanting story of a colony of gnomes who live in the vast Forest of Boland, quarrying in their mines for precious metals with the aid of the Boland Belle of the Forest Light Railway. One day a mischievous leprechaun leads a band of followers in an attempt to break up the railway... Humour and excitement is captured with ingenious detail in BB's superb b/w illustrations and colour frontis. Blue pictorial boards. 127 pages.
Spine and corners bumped. Dark patches to top and bottom of front board. Couple of marks to rear board. Prize presentation plate to front endpaper. Some foxing and marks to page edges otherwise contents are clean. Dustwrapper is edge worn and creased with a few tears and small areas of loss. Spine is browned. Rear panel is stained and browned. Top of wrapper and verso browned. Several pieces of clear tape have been used on verso to mend tears.
