Almost very good condition. Originally published by Freemantle in 1900, Constable purchased the copyright and reissued this sumptuous version with revised, redrawn and recoloured illustrations. Crimson cloth with gilt decorations to spine and front cover. 40 exquisite tipped-in colour plates with captioned tissue guards. Red and grey pictorial endpapers. Top edge red. 325 pages. Title on front cover and spine is "Grimm's Fairy Tales".
Bumping to spine and corners. Some fading to spine. Marks to covers. Name and date in ink to front endpaper. Damp brown mark to bottom corner of prelims (contents and illustrations list pages). Foxing to endpapers and outer page edges; a few to tissue guards and page margins. All plates are present; two have corner creases.
