Very good condition. Lectures on the Elements of Farriery, or the Art of Horse-Shoeing and on the Diseases of the Foot Designed Chiefly for the Use of the Pupils of the Veterinary College London. B/w frontis representing 3 topics, listed as separate plates. No. I a groom holding a horse's foot, No. II the Veterinarian explaining to the Farrier the natural shape of the foot and the form of a shoe proper for it, No. III Ignorance running away with a mask in her hand. Plates I is a large folding b/w plate showing the joints of the leg. Plate II shows hooves and shoes. The book was originally issued with 6 model plaister hooves and 6 model brass shoes. xii + iii + 202 pages. Modern full brown calf binding with raised bands to spine, gilt decorations and borders. Black leather title labels to spine. The author was the inaugural professor of the Royal Veterinary College.

Plates lightly foxed. Inscription to verso of last blank page reads 'For Some Excellent Remarks on this work see the monthly review for December 1793'. A superb binding. Please note this copy does not have the associated models.
