HIGH ROAD TO COMMAND: THE DIARIES OF MAJOR-GENERAL SIR EDMUND IRONSIDE 1920-1922

by Edmund Ironside

Published by Leo Cooper. 1st. 1972

Slightly better than very good condition in a very good dustwrapper. At the end of the First World War Sir Edmund Ironside was the youngest Major-General in the British Army. Jobs were scarce and the system of 'shelving' officers on half pay until useful employment could be found for them was still in force. Sir Edmund was obliged to accept several apparently unrewarding commissions before he returned to the 'establishment' in 1922 as Commandant of the Staff College. Orange boards, gilt title to spine. B/w photos.

Text block lightly browned. Lower corner crease to prelims. Pictorial dustwrapper is worn across top of rear panel with a few closed tears, scuffed.
