Pictorial card wraps. Colour illustrations. 32 pages. Hand lettering replaced by a setting in Gill Sans. Rear cover carries imprint 'Engraved and printed by Henry Stone & Son. Ltd., Banbury.' Covers creased and rubbed at edges. Contents a little creased and fingered but clean.

Edward Jeffrey Irving Ardizzone, (16 October 1900 – 8 November 1979), who sometimes signed his work "DIZ", was an English painter, print-maker and war artist, and the author and illustrator of books, many of them for children. For Tim All Alone (Oxford, 1956), which he wrote and illustrated, Ardizzone won the inaugural Kate Greenaway Medal from the Library Association for the year's best children's book illustration by a British subject.
