Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper. Blue covers, gilt title to spine. B/w frontis illus. 231 pages.

Spine and corners bumped and a tiny dent to lower edge of front cover. A couple of small ink marks to front cover and a light grease stain to rear cover. Name and address in pencil to front endpaper. A couple of tiny foxspots to outer page edges else contents clean. Dustwrapper is price-cut by publisher (with new price sticker 10/-) above, is slightly edge worn with minimal loss at corners.

  • Ruey Richardson and her brothers Roger and Roddy are wards of Joey and Jack Maynard. She enters the Chalet School which she finds life very different from that in Croydon. She introduces lacrosse to the Chalet School but finds a ready-made enemy in Francie Wilford.
  • Francie had hoped that she and Margot Maynard would become friends but Margot is not keen. Francie, whose character is warped by her home circumstances lets her jealousy of Ruey poison her school life. The two are at daggers drawn most of the term but eventually a break through is made and they become firm friends.
