- Selma is a Scots girl working in a Glasgow shop. She is a friend of Angus Reekie who, cherishing a high regard for the Abbey girls, is convinced that nothing would be better for Selma than to be invited to live for a time at the Abbey with Joan, Joy and Jen, and so acquire their way of thinking and living.
