Good condition in a good dustwrapper. The very first Famous Five book in which the Five encounter a ruined castle, a wreck and buried treasure. Red boards. 191 pages. Blue pictorial endpapers showing the island. B/w illustrations.

Fading to bottom of spine. Number in ink to front endpaper. Foxing to outer page edges. Black water marks to last few pages. Wrapper is edge-torn with pieces of loss to top and tail of spine; damp marked; some creasing.

  • When siblings Julian, Dick and Anne learn that they cannot go for their usual summer holiday to Polseath, they are invited to spend the summer with their Aunt Fanny and Uncle Quentin at their home Kirrin Cottage, in the coastal village of Kirrin. They also meet their cousin Georgina, a surly, difficult girl, who tries hard to live like a boy and only answers to the name George.
