Almost very good condition in a good dustwrapper. Blue boards with black titles. Blue pictorial endpapers. B/w and two-colour illustrations. Colour frontis. The third Famous Five book.

Front cover is bowed. Some corners are bumped. Spine is faded/browned. Presentation plate to front endpaper. Foxing to outer page edges and a few page margins. Wrapper is creased with edge-tears and chips with loss; some scuffing; faded to spine with damp damage.

  • Julian, Dick and Anne arrive in Cornwall to stay with George for the holidays. They plan to spend time exploring Kirrin Island but their happiness is spoilt when Aunt Fanny falls ill and has to leave with Uncle Quentin to be treated in a far-off hospital. They are cared for by Aunt Fanny's temporary cook, Mrs Stick, who is accompanied by her husband and their ghastly son Edgar.
