Colour plates mounted on brown stiff paper. Other illustrations in b/w. Covers are edge worn, creased and grubby. Spine bumped and worn along edges. Writing in crayon inside front covers. Title-page and contents page are detached but still present. Most of the b/w illustrations have some colouring to them.

Tape repairs/reinforcements to edges of covers (tape folded over onto pastedowns inside). Small booksellers sticker to front pastedown. Old tape mark to front free-endpaper. Inscription in ink to verso of front free-endpaper. Grubby fingermarks to some page margins. Light foxing to textblock and some page browning. Not as bad as it sounds!
