  • Sally Pratt wanted a pony more than anything else in the world: but there was only two pounds in her secret Pony Bank. However, Mr. & Mrs. Granger who ran the Manor Riding Stables, promised to teach her to ride, and help for the Pony Fund came unexpectedly from Dick Paigle, and from his friends in the Sealsham Gang who rode with Mr. & Mrs. Granger.
  • Working for the Pony Fund brought Sally a great deal of fun, and a number of adventures which she hadn't expected- adventures with her friends in the Sealsham Gang, with the patient donkey Sampson, and with a not-so-patient bull. And finally there was the excitement of the gymkhana, a wonderful day with a glorious surprise at the end of it.
