Good condition. And From Foreign Journals. Red leather spines and corners; raised bands to spines; gilt titles. Contains plates (some fold-out) and illustrations. Volume III contains 'Sketch of the Analytical Engine' invented by Charles Babbage - considered to be the forerunner of 20th century computers.

Scuffing and wear to covers; some marks. Tear hole to leather spine on Volume I - a bit missing. All plates are present, but with some damp staining. Worm damaged to margins of a few plates in Volume II. Names in ink to front pastedowns. Foxing and some browning.
