A story of travel, and of wit and scholarship, and one of extraordinary perseverance in gaining for the British Museum some of the rarest documents which were housed in these famous monasteries. Blue cloth boards, gilt title to spine. B/w illustrations and plans.
Spine browned, small white mark to front board. Text block browned. Ex-lib stamp to front pastedown. Endpapers browned. Pictorial dustwrapper is a little browned and scuffed.
