by Robert Sharp; Janice E. Crowther; Peter A. Crowther
Published by Oxford University Press. 1st. 1997
Nearly fine condition in a very good dustwrapper. Records of Social and Economic History New Series 26. This diary gives a vivid picture of life in a Yorkshire village between the Napoleonic Wars and the Victorian era. Robert Sharp, schoolmaster, village constable, shopkeeper, and tax collector, was in a unique position to observe the affairs of the village and the lives of his fellow-villagers, whom he describes with wry humour and affection. Green boards, gilt title to spine.
Text block slightly grubby. Pictorial dustwrapper is lightly edge-creased with a small closed tear to rear edge (no loss).
