BIGGLES AND THE LITTLE GREEN GOD

by W.E. Johns

Published by Brockhampton Press. 1st. 1969

Good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper. Blue boards with gilt title to spine. 179 pages.

Possibly ex-lib (but no labels or stamps). Spine and corners bumped. Damage to endpapers where the joints were once reinforced and the reinforcement has now been removed (not by us!). Removal of a label to front free-endpaper. Old tape marks to rear endpapers. Hinge between half-title and title-page is cracked. Textblock is grubby. Dustwrapper is edge worn and has a few small pieces of magic tape stuck on verso (they were holding a cover in place) and a couple of light stains to top and tail of spine (mostly visible on verso).

Contents

  • How does the little green god find its way to Petticoat Lane, London, where Sam Bates picks it up off a junk stall for twelve shillings?
  • Long afterwards, spurred on by a friend's casual remark, Sam takes it to a Regent Street jeweller who realises its true value and buys it for £12,500. From time to time we hear of it changing hands until finally it is knocked down to a South American multi-millionaire for £75,000. Its new owner gets it flown home at once to his house in Santiago, Chile. Biggles and Algy now enter the story and we find them following the route of the aircraft which never reached its destination.
