Each story is accompanied by a pretty and detailed handcoloured plate. Dark red embossed cloth with gilt title and vignette to front cover. 38 pages + 2 page booklist. The book has been restored with new red endpapers. Spine covering torn at top and tail. Corners bumped and worn. Covers bright and clean. A few small marks to front pastedown. Inscription in ink to verso of first plate with has a few small edge-tears, most repaired. Some foxing to contents but plates still bright. A very nice copy of a rare book.

Spine and corners a little bumped, corners slightly worn. Small nick to lower edge of front cover. Small split to spine rear edge. Covers clean with gilt still bright. Attractive pictorial bookplate of Dora Allison on front pastedown. Inscription in ink on front endpaper dated December 1869. Some light creasing to pages and some fingermarks. Two pages have circular black marks to them (pages 88 and 120). A bright copy of a scarce early fairy tale book.
