Large format. Brown cloth spine and rear cover with gilt title. Front cover is green with black/gilt drawings. The text of this edition is taken from the 1789 edition and includes the first part only, with minor emendations. The additional two letters 'Timothy the Tortoise to Miss Hecky Mulso' and 'On the Sense of Hearing in Fishes', were first published in the 1877 edition of 'The Natural History and Antiquities of Selborne', edited by Thomas Bell, 2 vols, published by John Van Voorst. Exquisite full page colour illustrations. A beautiful edition! Still in original shrinkwrap which is a little scuffed and has a tiny hole to one corner. This copy would make a wonderful gift.
