This is the U.S. edition. Light blue cloth, gilt vignettes and titles to spine and front cover. Top edges gilt. White design on green endpapers. 232 pages. 10 x 7.5". 12 colour plates. B/w text illustrations. Spine very slightly bumped and rubbed. Top 2" of spine and a tiny section to top edge of rear cover faded. A few tiny spots to edge of textblock. Endpapers are browned. Dustwrapper is edge torn with tape repairs on verso, loss to top of spine and slightly grubby on rear panel.

Top edge gilt, others uncut. 232 pages. 10.25 x 8". 12 coloured plates and 22 b/w drawings. Grey-green and white pictorial endpapers. SIGNED by Rackham. This is copy no. 133 of the American issue. This is a stunning copy with no marks on the vellum other than a tiny rub to the edge of the rear cover and a small crack (0.5") at top and tail of the spine. The front endpaper has a 0.5" closed margin tear, there is a tiny gold gallery label to the rear pastedown, otherwise the contents are fine with all plates present and no foxing. This copy would make a wonderful gift.

A charming story of the proud little queen and her beautiful lonesome doll. 31 unique illustrations including four in colour. Attractive tan pictorial cloth, black title to spine. A rare Rackham title being published only in America. Spine just very slightly bumped. Pale stain to front cover which is hardly noticeable. Tiny bookseller's stamp to front pastedown. Inscription in pencil to front endpaper. Very light water stain to margins of pages in second half of book. Pages very lightly browned. First gathering pulled at hinges and slightly misaligned. Closed tear to gutter edges of first gathering. Prelims almost detached. Pictorial dustwrapper is slightly grubby with a few light stains, chipped at corners with a few small edge-tears. Difficult to find in good condition due to paper used being of poor quality, this is an exceptionally bright copy, rare in original wrapper.
