All cover edges have been neatly covered with cloth tape. Covers a bit grubby and marked, spine faded. New endpapers (not by Anne Anderson). Joints cracked. Colouring to at least one illustration. Cloudy film to bottom of two pages, text still readable. A few marks to contents. 2 plates MISSING.

Some fingering to contents.

Frontis has been re-inserted in wrong place. Foxing to page edges. Mark to rear endpaper.

Top edges of covers are lightly browned. Name to top of front pastedown. One hinge cracked. Tiny piece torn from bottom of front endpaper. A little light foxing to endpapers. Contents otherwise clean. Dustwrapper is edge worn and torn. Top of front panel is creased. Spine and rear panel a little grubby.

First story is When John Took Charge. Serial stories are The Riddle of Roscombe, The Adventures of Fitzie the Marmoset, The Bargees and The Three Bargains. Bumping to spine, corners and bottom of front board. Corners and spine rubbed. Gilt worn to title on front. Name and date to front endpaper. Front joint beginning to crack. Title page removed. Large piece of bottom corner of page 33/34 torn off affecting very bottom of illustration and text on page 34. Large closed tear to page 41/2 mended with sticky tape. Some margin tears. Some grubby marks. Neat colouring to a few illustrations.
