Large format. Brightly coloured pictorial paper boards with clear window in centre showing Crusoe looking through a spyglass. Top corner of boards & contents cut in shape of parrot. First and last double page spread is a colourful pop-up by Kubasta. Colour illustrations to story. Creasing to parrot wings on covers. Bottom 2" of spine are chipped, with some surface paper loss; smaller chips to top of spine. Cellophane window to front cover is torn/broken. Pop-ups still in very good working order.

Board corners worn with some surface loss; spine scuffed at top & tail with fading and slight fraying of cloth. Boards a little scuffed and marked. Hinges strengthened with bookbinding tape. One pop-up scene is edge creased, with corner repair. Scattered foxing.

Creases to the bases of the pop-up scenes but otherwise the pop-ups are complete, bright and working. Contents are been reinforce with tape at inner margins. Page corner tips lightly creased and some finger and other marks to contents.

A pop-up book with introduction by Weatherly. 5 pop-up scenes plus numerous b/w illustrations. Green cloth spine, pictorial front board shows children dancing around a Christmas tree. Decorative endpapers. Nister no. 853. Spine bumped and worn. Corners bumped and very worn. Board edges are scuffed. Boards are scratched and a bit grubby. Front joint cracked. Endpapers and page edges browned. Staples rusty. One page, which has ragged edges, is detached. 4" tear to last page of text plus other smaller tears to page edges and margins. Light colouring to several illustrations. Some fingering to contents. Horse's tail slightly creased in second pop-up, and couple of small patches of surface paper damage in deer pop-up. Other pop-ups nice and bright.

Pop-ups are in excellent working order.

PEEPSHOW OF THAMES TUNNEL

Cream card wraps with hole to front cover to peep through, decorative paper onlay to rear cover. 6 hand-coloured scenes bound accordion style. Covers are edge worn and a little grubby. Three of the paper folds have been replaced, the first two very neatly and have been coloured to match what was previously there (when the book is closed you can see the colour), the other fold replaced did not need colour. Other folds have small tears or old tape repairs. The scenes are all in excellent condition, without major faults.

1200 feet long, 76 feet below high water mark, was 8 years building and cost £446,000, opened the 25th day of March 1843. Bound accordion style, 4 hand--coloured scenes (includes front cover which has 2 holes cut out - peepholes). Contained in a slipcase with onlay to front (same as front cover of book). Rear cover is creased and colour (black) has been touched up to rear cover and edges of front cover. I think that the slipcase has been repaired/reinforced.

Buck Roger's gun and hand also a little creased. Pop-ups otherwise in excellent condition. This copy would make a wonderful gift
