The purpose of this book is to record facts about seamarks and to arrange them in Sections, with some explanation, to show the transition from the wood fires of Antiquity to the reflector lights of 1819. Includes an account of the Eddystone Lighthouse. Large format. Green cloth boards, gilt title to spine and gilt crest to front board. xxiv and 310 pages including index. Top edge gilt.
Boards clean. Minor foxing to text block and endpapers. Contents clean. Price-cut pictorial dustwrapper is a little browned and grubby, small closed tear to top front edge of spine (no loss).
