Almost very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper. The last book to be illustrated by Rackham. Grahame himself originally approached Rackham to illustrate his book but at that time it could not be managed. It was thirty years later that Rackham finally consented. The pictures were finished just as World War II broke out and were originally published in America by the Limited Editions Club. Green cloth, gilt titles to spine. 12 lovely colour plates plus 15 line illustrations in the text. 178 pages.
Bumping to spine and corners. Gilt on spine has dulled. Front cover mottled and a little bowed. Inscription in ink to front page. Endpapers lightly browned. Foxing mainly to page edges. A little browning to margins of some plates. Contained in a reprint dustwrapper which is price cut and a little edge worn. Spine is faded. Some light score marks to rear panel. Foxing to flaps. Wrapper is grubby.
