- Rosanna Corelli is an orphan and her heart is set on becoming a dancer. She has a great deal of natural talent and when ballerina Ella Rosetti comes to Italy and sees young Rosanna dance she is very impressed. When Rosanna is sent to England to live with an aunt, it seems as is she has come closer to her goal, which is to enter the Sadler's Wells, but her aunt is unkind and has no sympathy with Rosanna's ambitions. Desperately unhappy, Rosanna runs away and after many heartbreaks and excitements, she is helped by Ella and the young ex-King Leopold of Slavonia to realise her cherished dream and become a pupil at the famous ballet school.
