Green cloth boards, gilt title to spine, gilt vignette showing man with stick about to beat a snake to protect his family to front board. 10 b/w illustrations, including frontispiece. xi and 393 pages including index, 2 pages of publisher adverts to rear.
Light shelf wear to top & tail of spine and corners else boards nice and bright. Contemporary name in ink to half-title page. Text block browned. Heavy foxing to prelims and last few pages. Else contents clean and tight.
