Lord George Sackville was court-martialled for disobedience at the battle of Minden in 1759 and pronounced to be 'unfit to serve His Majesty in any military capacity whatsover'. What caused him to disobey the orders of his German Commander-in-Chief to bring up the cavalry? Was it cowardice? Or incompetence? Or a determination to be awkward? Or was he an unlucky victim of circumstance? Yellow cloth boards, black title to spine. B/w illustrations. ISBN: 0713908513. Small black mark to front endpaper. Pencil erasure mark to front endpaper. Top edge of text block slightly grubby. Contents clean. Black dustwrapper is a little scuffed.
