Cream boards, green titles. Colour frontis, b/w illustrations. 190 numbered pages. Spine bumped. Covers grubby and slightly foxed. Name and date in ink to front free-endpaper. Page browning and foxing to textblock. A few page corner tips creased. Contents clean. Dustwrapper is worn and torn with loss, front flap is almost detached (hanging on by a whisker). Rear panel is grubby with a cup mark.

- A German submariner is shot trying to get a message to British Headquarters in Germany. His dying words tell of a missing U-Boat returning to the Southern Ocean to pick up a stash of stolen Allied gold from its secret base. Biggles and the team de-camp to Kerguelen Island to try and locate it and retrieve the gold for HM government.
