Green boards, silver title to spine. 6 b/w illustrations. 255 pages. Spine and corners bumped. Top and tail of spine sunned. Endpapers lightly browned. Foxing to textblock. Flying Jacket wrapper is worn, chipped and torn with loss. Front flap almost detached.

Green boards, silver title to spine. 6 b/w illustrations. 255 pages. Spine very slightly bumped and browned, very light vertical crease to centre of spine. Inscription in ink to front free-endpaper. Endpapers partly browned. Foxing to textblock. Flying Jacket wrapper is price-cut, slightly edge chipped with a couple of small tears and foxing on verso. Small patch of surface paper damage to base of wrapper spine.

- Biggles and Ginger parachute into Lucrania, a small country behind the iron curtain and basically run by Germany, to try and uncover the whereabouts of an important scientist.
- Professor Max Beklinder has disappeared. The Professor was working on a secret poison gas for the British when he was reported as having been killed in a car accident in Unterhamstadt in Lucrania. Biggles is sent to find out if he is really dead and if not, to get him back. Erich von Stalhein, head of the local police, is at the hotel checking the names of the guests and is surprised to encounter two of his old foes.
