Spine slightly browned and some light discolouration to covers. Letter "A" written to top of spine in ink. A.4. written in ink to front pastedown. Light foxing and page edge browning. Vertical crease to frontis. Some hinges cracked and some grubby fingering.

Pink cloth with elaborate gilt decorations. B/w frontis by Cruikshank. Believed to be the last book illustrated by him. The Rose And The Lily, How They Became the Emblems of England and France. A Fairy Tale. 62 pages + 36 page booklist dated October 1876. Top of spine chipped with loss. Spine browned and bumped and base. Small mark to front cover. Some page edges ragged from uneven opening.

Green cloth, gilt title and vignette to spine and large colour onlay to front cover (illus Tarrant). 4 colour plates featuring fairies by Tarrant. B/w text illustrations by Rhys. 238 pages, top edge green. Spine and corners bumped and worn, covers are a bit grubby and gilt to spine has faded. Front free-endpaper removed. Front and rear joints cracked causing contents to be a bit loose. Some grubby fingermarks to contents. Hinges pulled/cracked. Pages 58 and 59 lightly scribbled on with blue crayon. A decent copy of a very scarce Tarrant item.

Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper.
Whilst missing her spaniel who has disappeared in the garden, Jane is astonished to find fairies in the garden. Through them, she meets the Wise Grasshopper who helps her to learn how fairies and human kindness work together to solve many human problems. Red cloth spine. Blue pictorial paper boards. Full page colour illustrations plus b/w text illustrations. Edges lightly rubbed, covers clean and bright. Front joint starting to pull. Contents clean. Pictorial wrapper is lightly edge-worn with a few small chips and closed tears. Overall, an excellent copy.

Pages are a bit grubby but pictures still nice and bright. A very scare Hilda Boswell item.

Page corner tips very lightly creased. A light damp stain affects the top margins of most pages. Light foxing throughout, mainly to insides of covers. Some animal ink stamps to edge of inside of rear cover. Not as bad as it sounds - contents still generally bright and clean.

Two small dents to cover foredges, Contents near fine with just the occasional very pale mark. A super copy of this rare fairy book.
