Orange cloth with dark orange and black pictorial front cover. Colour and b/w illustrations. Spine and corners bumped, light stain to base of spine and spine edge of front cover. Small booksellers sticker to front pastedown. Endpapers lightly browned, some light foxing to contents.

Colour illustrations. Sepia line drawings. Spine slightly bumped. Cream cloth is ever so slightly grubby. There is a tiny nick to top edge of rear cover. Rear free-endpaper is creased. Front joint is just starting to crack. There is some very light fingering to page margins. This is a nice, attractive copy.

Randolph Caldecott (; 22 March 1846 – 12 February 1886) was a British artist and illustrator, born in Chester. The Caldecott Medal was named in his honour. He exercised his art chiefly in book illustrations. His abilities as an artist were promptly and generously recognised by the Royal Academy.
