Almost very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper.
This book is divided into two parts. The first, on Blades, traces the history of the Japanese sword from its origins to the present day, with a brief description of the forging processes, an epitome of nomenclature and expertise, an a concise account of the most important schools of Japanese swordsmiths. The second part, on Mounts, describes the fittings appropriate to the various types of Japanese sword,k explains the different materials and techniques employed, and enumerates the main schools and styles of sword-furniture makers. Red cloth boards, gilt title on black title block to spine. B/w photos and illustrations. 110 pages including index plus photos. Small white mark to rear board else boards bright. Tape marks to endpapers. Text block browned. Contents clean. Pictorial dustwrapper is lgithly edge-worn, repaired to rear flap fold with yellowed tape, rear panel a little grubby. Musty odour present.
