PICKLES
by Cecil Aldin
Illustrated by Cecil Aldin
Published by Henry Frowde; Hodder & Stoughton. 1st. 1909
Almost very good condition. Telling the story of Pickles the puppy who is always getting into a pickle! Large format. Brick red cloth spine, with gilt title. Green cloth covers with orange and gilt titles. 24 delightful colour plates.
Spine and corners slightly bumped. Very light mark to front cover else covers clean. Couple of tiny holes to spine. Front joint is partially cracked. Inscription in ink to half-title page. Some foxing, mostly to endpapers and prelims. Plates are bright and clean. Guards at gutter edges are worn in places and coming unglued. Plate XII has a green scuff vertically to verso (not affecting the illustration). Plate XVI is edge-worn. A few small closed edge tears to margins. Rear endpaper has been repaired at edges with magic tape and has one other closed tear. Despite faults this is a decent copy of a rare Aldin title.
