Almost very good condition. Written in the late 17th century by a former Spanish officer in colonial Chile, the book recounts the events encountered by the author as a young man of 20 years in 1629, mostly while captured by Mapuche soldiers during one of the wars for Spanish domination of southern Chile. Translated from the Spanish by William C. Atkinson. Burgundy morocco spine, gilt titles. Beige boards. B/w vinyl-cuts. 154 pages.
Spine is scuffed. Boards clean. Text block lightly dusty. Personal bookplate to front endpaper else contents clean. Contained in publisher's slipcase which is worn at open corners, unevenly faded and has a darker circular patch to one side.
