A Provincial Ballad. Beautiful colour text illustrations throughout. Illustrated boards. Cloth spine. All edges blue. Cr 4to. Spine, corners and covers very worn and grubby. Ink name to front cover. Joints and some hinges cracked. Two gatherings, pages 17 to 32, detached but present. Next gathering almost detached as is rear endpaper. Numerous marks to contents but all still perfectly readable. A reading copy.

A Provincial Ballad. Beautiful colour text illustrations throughout. Illustrated boards. Cloth spine. All edges blue. Cr 4to. Corners worn with slight loss of surface paper. Cover grubby. A few small rusty marks to spine. A few hinges cracked with rusty staple marks. Some pages have grubby fingermarks to margins but generally contents are clean but a little loose.

Robert Bloomfield
Robert Bloomfield (3 December 1766 – 19 August 1823) was an English labouring-class poet. The poem that made his reputation, The Farmer's Boy, sold over 25,000 copies in two years. Sadly, Vernor & Hood, his publishers, failed. He tried to carry on a business as a bookseller but that too failed. In his later years he was reduced to making Aeolian harps, which he sold among his friends. With failing eyesight and suffering from depression, he died in great poverty in 1823
