New Edition. Small format. Cream, red and blue decorated boards, pictorial onlay to front cover (design by Ernest Aris). 4 colour plates and b/w text illustrations. Boards browned, lightly rubbed at corners. Inscription in ink to front pastedown. Centre hinge is pulled but binding is tight. Grubby finger marks to contents.

Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper.
The twins school burnt down half-way through term and so they found themselves with weeks and weeks in the New Forest with nothing to do but ride and care for their aunt's ponies. Second Impression. Red cloth boards, black title to spine. B/w illustrations. Foxing to endpapers and half-title page. Joints lightly pulled. Contents otherwise clean. Pictorial dustwrapper has a small chip to lower edge of front panel, is lightly edge-worn with a few closed tears (no loss) and is grubby to rear panel.
