Inscription in pencil to top margin of title-page. Grubby fingermarks and foxing to text. One plate (opp page 272) has 1" closed tear.

There is a section of surface paper missing to lower corner of rear cover. Inscription in ink to front free-endpaper. Name plate to verso of frontis. Tiny booksellers sticker to rear pastedown. Page corner tips are creased and there is some light fingering to page margins.

A few marks to covers and two scratches to onlay. Joints cracked, rear joint showing webbing. Label, with name on, stuck to front endpaper covering writing, label partially removed below. Edge of front endpaper creased with small tears. Contents generally clean, all plates present.
