Taken from preface: "Previously there has been available very little, if any, collated material dealing with balancing from this practical or productive, standpoint. The object of this volume is to supply the need for such information by giving in a comparatively simple practical form a resume of the factors affecting balance, together with a description of the better-known apparatus now available for detecting unbalance, as well as the methods and calculations invovled in the actual correction of bodies which are shown by the equipment to require it".
