Almost very good condition.
Large format. Red cloth spine with black titles and black vignette, pictorial front board shows small girl riding on shoulders of older girl. Advert to rear cover. Blue pictorial endpapers. Colour plates, two-tone and b/w text illustrations. Spine bumped with a few small, light marks. Wear to corners and cover edges. Rear cover slightly grubby. Paper covering rear joint split for 1" at top and bottom. Nick to outside edge of front endpaper. Dated ink inscription to verso of frontis. A couple of hinges cracked. Brown mark, mostly to inner margins of two pages, one of which is a two-tone illustration page. A few fox spots and fingermarks but generally clean otherwise.

Pictorial boards. 4 colour plates plus two tone illustrations. Endpapers are adverts. Spine bumped and worn, showing webbing, with 2" split to bottom. Corners bumped and worn. Board edges scuffed. Some surface paper damage to rear cover which is a little grubby. Front cover slightly bowed and a bit grubby. Endpapers browned. Some foxing. Messy crayon colouring/scribbling to many pictures. Pencil drawing to verso of one plate. Faint scribble to a couple of pages plus some grubby marks. A reading copy.

One of a series of four story books, each with 6 colour plates and scores of illustrations. This one has very pretty pictorial boards showing a little boy peeping from behind a tree at a little girl sitting eating an apple. Pictorial endpapers by W. Heath Robinson. Front endpaper shows characters from fairy tales, rear endpaper characters from nursery rhymes. Red cloth spine with black titles. 10x8". Spine is a little grubby. A few scuff marks to covers. Corners are bumped and worn. Foxing to outer page edges. A few closed margin tears. One hinge pulled. Five of six colour plates missing. 4 b/w illustrations have been coloured in.
