Covers are grubby. Inscription in pencil to verso of frontis. Hinges pulled but binding still tight. Foxing to contents.

Pictorial paper boards entitled 'Fairy Lights' shows children with Chinese lanterns. Colour frontis by Florence Harrison plus b/w and two-tone illustrations (one or two by F.Harrison). Spine and corners bumped and worn. Spine browned. Rear cover is grubby. Browning and foxing to contents. Some pencil colouring to endpapers, especially rear endpapers. One b/w illustration has been coloured in with watercolours. Hinges pulled but binding still tight. Name in heavy pencil to rear free-endpaper.

Spine is faded with damp stains spreading to both boards. Bumping and wear to covers and corners. Some foxing throughout. Colour plates are still very good.

First story is 'The Sea-Eagle' Nest' by Francklyn. Spine browned, bumped and worn with a little loss from top edge of onlay. Wear to corners and cover edges. Uneven fading and a few marks to covers. A couple of hinges cracked. A little foxing, mainly to text block. One plate partially detached.

Covers a little grubby. Name and price in pencil to top margin on inside of front cover. Grubby marks to margins. Illustrations still bright.

First story is Mrs Brown Hen. Large print text. Edited by Strang. Spine is bumped and worn with some loss of surface paper at either end also slightly faded and marked. Corners and cover edges worn. Covers a bit grubby and scuffed. Front joint cracked next to frontis. Rear joint and some hinges also cracked. Browning to endpapers and prelims, heavy foxing to contents. Small dated inscription to prelims. One plate detached and has large corner crease. Creasing to title page.
