A comprehensive guide to the most important tour Turner made, the author has travelled through the Alps in Turner's footstpes and vividly recreated the artist's journey, using Turner's sketchbooks and the writings of contemporaries including Byron and Shelley. A fascinating mixture of art, history and travel. Large, oblong format. Brown cloth boards, gilt title to spine. Colour & b/w illustrations, colour photos.
Small white mark to rear board. Tiny nick to lower edge of pages 59/60 and 61/62 (extremely minor). Else contents are fine. Pictorial dustwrapper is lightly rubbed at top of spine and slightly scuffed to rear panel.
