Blue and white pictorial endpapers. 9 colour plates and numerous b/w drawings. 237 pages. Spine and corners bumped and slightly worn. Some fading to covers and foxing to spine, there is a horizontal black felt-tip(?) pen mark to centre of spine. Inscription in ink to front free-endpaper. Foxing to prelims, endpapers and textblock.

Colour and b/w photos. In his tracing of the island's evolution from its geological creation to the effects of oil technology; in the detailed, yet fascinating exploration of the plants and animals (and where best to see them), Professor Berry's expertise and enthusiasm is backed by that of local specialists, and Orkney's long tradition of natural history study. Name in ink to front free-endpaper. Joints have been reinforced with white paper. Page browning to endpapers, foxing to contents. Some grubby fingermarks and some loss to page margins. Dot-to-dot has been completed then the pencil has been erased. Unfortunately the frontis is MISSING from this copy, the other plates are still present but the edges are slightly worn. A nice copy of a very scarce book.
