Limited Edition Cased Set, special numbered edition of 100 sets to commemorate the centenary of the first publication in 1910. Small format book with cream cloth and silver titles. 56 numbered pages, all edges gilt. With explanatory leaflet giving a brief biography of Beatrix Potter and the history of the publication of The Tale of Mrs. Tittlemouse. Contained in a brown hinged box with silver title and hexagon onlay to front. Also includes a brown leather foil-blocked bookmark. ISBN: 9780723264507. It is unlikely the book has ever been opened (still very tightly bound). Presentation box protected by a white cardboard slip band and still contained in original packaging box (with ltd edn details label to front), 'cotton' (referring to cloth binding) has been written in blue biro to top. This is copy no. 59. This copy would make a wonderful gift.

Top edge of text block is dusty. Some light fingering. Scarce dustwrapper is edge worn and creased with loss to top and bottom of spine and corners. Rear panel is torn and mended on verso with tape. . Wrapper is a little grubby.

A book written in 1915 "for the amusement of my wife and myself at a time when life was not very amusing" - A.A. Milne. Originally published in 1917 with illustrations by H.M. Brock. 358 pages. U.S. Edition. Some bumping and wear to spine and corners. Bottom corner of front cover has a small nick, with tiny fraying to cloth. Endpapers are browned. Light foxing to outer page edges. Wrapper is edge-torn and chipped; large piece of loss to top of spine; small loss to other corners; creased. Wrapper also has some foxing and a few small splash marks.

Covers slightly grubby with small mark to bottom edge of front cover. Prelims have been re-inserted incorrectly, order now is frontis, front endpaper, half-title, title page. Yellowed tape residue down full length of front joint. A couple of hinges starting to crack but binding is firm. Label with ink inscription to verso of frontis. Some light fingering and foxing to contents but generally they are clean.
