Schiele's sketchbooks constitute (apart from a few published sketches) a hitherto untapped source of insight into the artist's working methods. Few survived intact - many were dismantled after his death and their pages sold individually. Reproduced here in their entirety, are all thirteen of the complete books now preserved in public collections in Vienna. Large format. Black cloth boards, red title to spine and publisher's vignette to front. Colour & b/w illustrations. 374 pages including index.
